I think the only color that works on is the black, maybe white. . lol. The SEMA red was nice the the pic slideshow I'd probably label as "fails" haha. Specially the red grille/ headlight bezels. .

but ill tell ya a color that would really not work with is my mint green

And BTW that flat blat/primer looks awesome with it painted though

73customdent I would clear coat that truck and keep it just like that. But I'm a sucker for the patina look. Very cool truck

bought my truck with a painted grille shell, I didn't care for it, so I found a used shell, its oxidized, and doesn't look that much better, not sure which I like the least at this point. You can see the painted shell in my picture gallery.

Mine is painted black to go with the truck's camo scheme. I'm gonna shoot it with bed liner the next time it has to come off since it is dented anyway.

In fact, I'm gonna shoot bed liner on the upper surface of the bumper to improve traction with wet boots.

Yes. Rhinoline on the front bumper and brushguard does wonders for slick footing. Glad I did my bronco

And camo with the black grille surround looks awesome

I was going to post a photo of my truck for you but 77&79 already did, 2nd time in the last week that's happened. Haha

Oven Cleaner works good for stripping the Anodizing off the Aluminum, then you can actually polish it or paint/powdercoat/wahtever.

I have 3 grille surrounds, all slightly damaged with one of them perfect until I hit it with my tractor on 1 corner. Being a body-man I have been debating on how to repair any of these and retain a somewhat anodized finish. It was/is going to be tough. But,now that I have seen the black painted grilles I really like the look and that will make ANY of the 3 grille repairs very easy. I can check that off my worry list. Gary

Just did my 76 F250 SCCS a few weeks ago.
Blacked out the vertical bars so everything is horizontal.
Metallic Shimmer for the highlights, flat black for shadows.
Headlight buckets are black spray-on bedliner.
Cleaned up the front nicely.
Bob

What is being used to prep the grill for paint? I think with certain applications, the grill can be very cool painted.
