Here is one for you, Bob Jones, From Wis!
Bob, and others, check out this F-600 in Wisconsin. I know Wisconsin is a large state but this nice truck is closer than that Mercury panel truck we were talking about earlier.

I know it is not a 48-50, the so called Monkey Face, it is better. It is time some of you guys step up to newer technology. You Monkey face lovers expound on your "Million Dollar Cab" but according to McLaughlin's book, Ford Pickup Trucks, Ford spent approximately $50 Million on "research/development, tool and die changes, design work, marketing, and sales promotion" starting in 1948 to develop an all new line. This came to fruition when the 1953 models were released to the public on March 13, 1953.
These new cabs can comfortably seat 3 men (of the 50's physique), had a bigger windshield, a bigger rear window, and better sealing out of noise and wind and dirt, among other things than the older models.
Oops! I just saw that it is not in Manitowish Waters, Wis. as the door art says, it is located in Indiana! Uh-oh.... Indiana is next to Ohio and Big-Win lives in Ohio and it is a 56!
Anyway, it is a nice truck and one of us should have it!

Um, gee thanks Abe for that nearly helpful heads-up. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for trendy 53-56 trucks in Maine, or Tennessee, or somewhere in Nova Scotia - you know, near you.
Now the truck - what a beauty! Looks like it had some easy living - or a great resto based on the pics. Hope it finds the right home.

Manitowish is about 300 miles from the Land 'o Bob very near Yooper country. It is great huntin' and fishin' country near the UP and not far from Lake Superior. That area has a colorful past with all the lumber jack lore and assorted local debauchery. In addition, the gangster days when Dilinger and Baby Face Nelson shot their way out of an FBI raid at the Little Bohemia Lodge in - wait for it - Manitowish Waters made for good copy. Just up the road, in Mercer, Ralph Capone, he with a brother named Al, owned a hotel/tavern. After Ralph got out of prison, he 'retired' to the area and lived out his life there.

The orange part on the top that looks to be about 2x6 is the bed subframe and it is sitting on top of the truck actual frame, but they only painted part of the truck frame? I dont get that part.

Did you the notice the 6x6 blocks wedged under the dump bed frame? It looks like they are holding the bed up.
