wish i had more at 2000 rpm

anyone with a v-10 wish they had more toque at 2k? running 100% gas(especially 91 octane) made a difference but still wish 2k had more. am I just used to my 7.3? tired of listening to my buddy's crap about his ecoboost bring more powerful. my only response is "they don't put ecoboost in superduties for a reason".

If your V10 had a properly designed forced induction system on it there would be a huge difference at 2k rpm and it would exceed what both the engines mentioned could do. Forced induction is the key here and the Ecoboost would have pathetic horsepower and torque output without it. The 7.3l with no turbo would not be so great either though the high compression would help with torque output. I'd bet money your V10 outlasts your buddies Ecoboost by a large margin but he will probably never know because he'll trade it off before any kind of years or miles are on it.

There is a noticeable step in the torque curve around 2250rpm on the V10 and you can feel it if you pay attention. What is often preferred is to gear the truck steeper to help raise the rpm slightly to help get into the meat of the torque curve. You are not only getting into the V10's torque curve you are also putting more torque to the ground with the steeper gears.

Truck or van? Look at the 5 star links in the history. I added their rv tuner and it did good things to it. I also have a 6.0 PSD and wished the V10 was as cooperative as it is, but I could not find an RV with one (actually did, but wife wasn't happy with the coaches). Anyhow get with 5star and see what they can offer.

Did you look into the Banks trans-comand? not only will it increase line pressure for firmer shifts but it will hold the gears longer when your on the go pedal, may pull you through the lower rev's till the upshift into 3rd.

Is that something that isn't in the Mikes 5 Star tune?

That's my only complaint with my V10. I feel like it wants to shift way too early.

Mike at 5Star can write a custom tune to make your trans perform much better, just let him know exactly what you are looking for. The trans improvements from my 5Star tunes are pretty remarkable and have made a very nice improvement in my towing performance.

I will second that comment, I love how mine shifts towing or empty now, considering I only have 4 gears to work with.

Awesome! Thanks for the input! When the time comes, that's the route I'll be headed.

Is it a 4L or a 41? 41 is 3.73 no LSD for F350 trucks. Check the link below for more info on your vin.

Comparing a low revving diesel to a gas motor is apples to oranges.

Don't be afraid to let the V10 rev a little. That's what it's designed for.

I would drag race an ecoboost any day of the week with 8k on the hitch.

The 2005 and up V10 is 362 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque in stock form with 90% of that torque available from 1500 rpm and up.

The ecoboost is something like 380 hp and 420 lb-ft and the torque comes on fast and stays.

Not sure about the 7.3. I know it's pathetic on hp but may be as high as 500 lb-ft of torque.
