I have noticed that the vertical gear indicator that shows what gear the truck is in at any given time is no longer appearing on my truck. Anybody have an idea why? Is there some way I have turned it off without realizing it?
The + key on the +/- toggle...upper left side of the center console gear shift lever...will toggle the gear indicator numbers on and off. If they are off and you can't see them, hit the + once and they will come on. Hit the + again and they will go out.
As others above have said, if you can't see it and you want to, press the + or - buttons.
If you can see it and you don't want to, press the + button (depending on speed and gear, may take a few presses)
Use caution with the - button. Too many presses of that and you'll begin to eliminate those gears as options. The + button should be utilized to show the gear indicator. If 1 thru 5 show then you've hit the - one too many times and hitting the + should bring 6 back. This is also how you lock out 6th or 5th or more if you're towing or want to maintain engine/trans braking on declines.
If the system gets reset which can be done by a battery disconnect or by doing a master reset on your system, those gear indicators will disappear. They are only visible when in drive or the forward gears. While stopped in drive press the + button on the manual gear selector and it should reappear.
