1976 Two Tone Combinations

1976 Two Tone Combinations
I am looking ahead to paint colors on my '76 Crew Cab. I am wanting to make it a two tone truck and keep it as close to stock as I can for that year. My question is could you mix and match any colors you wanted that year or did you have to use a certain base color? According to the new truck brochure I have for 1976, Wimbledon White was the color that was mostly used on two tones. I have seen two tone green and two tone blue also. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Rich. That is the brochure I was referring to. It says white is the accent color for all the two tones, but I am just wondering if you could have used a different accent color like black instead of white. It says to talk to the dealer about it, but that's kind of hard to do now . No big deal. I was leaning towards red and white anyway but was wondering what my other options were.

Was the interior typically a different color than than the exterior? Mine's appears to be a regular tu-tone (light green top, darker green bottom) with a brighter metalic green interior. Just curious if that was typical at the time? I also have a Maverick and it's interior is Ginger, completely different than the med poly exterior.

Your truck sounds correct kboldin. My dad had a '79 4x4 Lariat. It was all red on the outside and it had a red interior with red & white door panels and seat. So yes, I think the interior colors matched the outside of the truck at times. The only thing I have seen different sometimes is another color on the dash (like my dark orange '78 had a brown dash in it from the factory). Thanks a lot for all the other options Rich! Only thing that helps me decide from those is that silver wasn't a color option in '76. SO, it will more than likely be fire engine red and white or maroon (maybe candy apple red) and white.

New color code questions
Hi guys -
Does anyone know how 2 tone paint jobs were identified in 1976? I found color charts on line but I didn't see any codes for 2-tone.
I just recently bought a 76 150 that is 2 tone light/dark green. It's an original rusty old truck that has obviously never been repainted, but the door tag color code is M (Wimbledon white according to the charts I found). VIN matches up, no trace of non-green paint in door seams or anywhere else, and the door tag rivets look original.
