No pictures but in my Bonus Built trucks I found that the original type bottom seal was less than adequate to keep air out of the cab. Maybe they improved that by the 55 models. If you are not concerned with originality you can glue a piece of trunk rubber from a salvage yard car in place of the original seal and it will do a much better job. I actually had a gap I could see through with the original seal...

The weather stripping is pinched into the weather strip holder which is tacked onto the door bottom.

I'll be the first to admit there were a lot of improvements in 1953 from the earlier models. For the million dollars spent on the cab for "new" truck for '48, there was still a lot of it left with 1920's technology for latches and seals.

Paul McLaughlin, in his book "Ford Pickup Trucks, Development History and Restoration Guide," says, "Right after the 1948 series was released, the Ford people began planning an all-new line to make its debut in the mid-fifties... During the following five years they spent approximately fifty million dollars on research and development, tool and die changes, design work, marketing and sales promotion."

Whew! $50 Million! So there had better be a lot of improvements in the new series and there are! The weather stripping is one of them.
