Unpainted it looks like a cover from a 55 or 56 Ford sedan would work as well.

I think they look very, very cool on the 52 grill, it ads so much personality. To me it kinda looks as if the truck is blinking, tired, or maybe like its in the mood to meet another 52 nose to nose.

These were very common on 49-54 Ford cars back in the early 60's. They were a cheap, (probably) 6 dollars or so, add on that gave the appearance of bringing the car into the "Frenched in" headlight era of the mid and late 50's.
Finding them on a pickup doesn't surprise me at all.

The old style, the whole trim ring including the visor, are much more rare and probably valuable, than the newer one size fits all type. But, the advantage the newer ones have is that one does not need to match the mounting screw holes. They just get sandwhiched between the headlight and the trim ring.
