After losing Bob and his sister Bonnie within six months of each other I told my wife I would get another "friend" when I was 88 and it had to be a breed with a 25 year life expectancy.
I will pray for peace and comfort for you and your family. The loss of these guys and the impact on us who loved them is very, very real.
Don't hurry to get over her.

Thanks everyone for all your support. I think I might eventually get another dog to replace Sheena but right know I feel that if I did I would end up putting to much pressure on the new dog to be like Sheena and I don't want to do that. Also I feel that I would be trying to erase my memories of her and I definitly don't want that. But the main reason is that I can't imagine having to deal with this much grief again when they eventually pass. (My wife has already been looking at new puppies). And yes we would love to rescue every mistreated dog but that is not possible. So eventually I hope we do get another but right now I will just enjoy my memories of Sheena. Her little buddy Cash has been trying to fill fill some pretty big shoes and make up for Sheena's passing. Yesterday when I came home he was waiting for me when I opened my door on my truck. It made me feel good and helped me a lot. So thanks again for your thoughts and awesome pictures of your pets. Doug.
