Perhaps you just need to put some miles on the truck and break it in. Also towing a load may speed this process up.

I would try the Motorcraft XL-17 oil modifier that some say cures the typewriter ticking sound. Couldn't hurt.... Maybe Ford forgot to put it in the factory fill on your truck...

Maybe you can post a video... Reading your posts so far just makes me think you don't care about losing money. Comparing your old truck to a new truck with a different turbo, fuel system, etc confuses me. Please try to post a video.

I can relate to the OPs post. I recall when I got my '15, I had to roll the window down to know it was running. Now under light to moderate acceleration I can hear what sounds like valves rattling or a typewriter. I drove an old first gen cummins before this so I didn't really think anything of it because diesels are loud, but reading the anomalies between trucks makes me curious to see what comes of it. subscribing.

You need to take your truck to a different dealership. I drive for a major dealership near Ft. Worth,Tx and deliver(many) ford trucks to the gas and oil service companies all over Texas and New Mexico. I have yet to experience the issue you are having. Occasionally
a check engine light or an unbalanced tire gets my attention, usually easy to correct. Over all the 2015 6.7 is quieter than the earlier 6.7. Good luck. PS I own a 2015 6.7 and recently sold 2011 6.7(many trouble free mile).

Just the other day one of my friends did not realize my truck was a diesel. My 2013 runs very quiet and have been running the Ford cetane additive since day one. I guess it was a habit from the days of my 6.0. Try running Ford cetane additive for a while and see if that helps.

My 2015 runs great, quiet and smooth. It is the first diesel I have ever had and I was expecting a louder, rougher truck. I am pleasantly surprised, but don't have many miles on it so far.

The dealer gave me a bottle of cetane booster with the truck and I have used it since I bought the truck new. I cannot believe it will help that much, but give it a try. It is a relatively inexpensive test.

I wish you good luck. I know how it is to spend a lot to not get what you want.

My 2015 CCDRW is the quietest diesel I've ever not heard.. And the ride is much better in this truck than my 99 F250 SC was... Every time I get into my truck it puts a smile on my face.
I hope this honeymoon lasts a very long time...

My 2015 is a little louder than my 2012 was, but it doesn't bother me. I am happy with the upgrades in engine braking, turbo and injectors for towing. Oh, the shift points are also better in this truck.
Happy Camper.

OP -- Since ECU programming helps keep the noise down on these 6.7L engines...I would ask the dealer to update and reprogram the ECU (even if same program version)...just to see if that helps.

Just a thought...

Good luck with the issue!

Well, mine was sounding a little noisy, I put it up to winter fuel and winter in general. Although, we've only had maybe a week of freezing weather. I added some PS cetane booster for the first time this last fill up and it's sounding as quiet as when I drove it off the the lot. So, if I'm close to correct, I'm expecting even better once summer shows up.

I just picked up my new 15 today.

This is the quietest vehicle I've ever owned.

Sorry, but I've also driven quite a few 11-14's. I can't tell much of any difference in noise. The 15 seems every bit as quiet. Not nearly the huge rattle box that the OP says.
