To EGR Delete or not Delete.....
#32
I did read somewhere that with this setup, even though the stock cooler supports the up-pipe, since the cooler is blocked off the back pressure in the up-pipe causes excessive vibration, which in turn causes the flex portion on the up-pie to crack. Mute point since I'm going with a kit anyway.
I did look at the IPR website and really like their delete kit, just trying to find out the difference between their Gen 2 and Gen 3 delete kits?
Also looking at Sinister Diesel and their kits.
Any feedback on these kits, or does anyone know of others out there that are considered good?
Thx

Super duty Service does have a good deal on the ipr delete and they know the piddly parts you may need as well. I will be getting my "project kit" from them in the next week or so. I'm getting the ipr uppipe too which from what I understand is the best manufactured for fit.

Three IPR Gen 2 is what you want unless you install the ipr coolant filter or the ipr oil cooler relocate kit.
The gen 3 kit has a plug in the coolant passage that forces coolant flow to a nipple that feeds a coolant hose that feeds their coolant filter. There is a second nipple that gets the return coolant into the other side of the blockoff plate to flute back to the intake manifold. The gen3 also must be used if you install the ipr oil cooler relocation kit.
For a simple egr delete, you want to use the GEN2.

Fwiw, I'm with Rusty on this, I'm in the middle of rebuilding the 6.0 in my wife's 05, injector tip broke off and damaged the piston and dinged up the head but not to bad, lol, bad enough to fix! Anyway I opted for the BPD cooler, the number one thing to take care of is your cooling system, namely the coolant! That's what causes most of the EGR issues, I'm not going to go into all that, lots of reading on that if you look for it, back to the EGR, this is just my thinking, if you do a delete, plug, what ever, you sell the truck that way, trade it in or sell it out right whatever, you have altered FEDRAL EMISIONS, I dont know if you would have any liabilitys or not but personally I'm not interested in finding out, there's a reason that everyone that sells one of these kits has you sign a "Off road use only" they don't want to be liable or have any legal actions towards them. I can tell you one thing, fix it right the first time, if you can't afford it I undersatand, but, it will cost you more the next time, i guarantee it!

I did the EGR cooler delete on my 2004 F350 6.0 and was told that it will not throw a code. It does throw a code for EGR low flow and turns the CEL on. I have reset it several times now but it just keeps coming back on.. I am trying to figure out how to get it turned off.. Good luck with your projects, it is very time consuming.
