A few years ago U-Haul was selling all of their remaining inventory of IDI parts. Rebuilt IP's were about $250 IIRC.

Any clue if they still do this? How did you know they were rebuilt? That's a great price. Who do I call?

When it says 570+shipping+core does the 570 include the core charge or is it 670 and the 100 dollars is refunded after they receive my core? If 570 is the price withe everything included..that's not bad plus I've heard he has a good reputation

It's gonna be 670 and then you get 100 back when they receive the core. Shipping extra.

I couldn't tell you from experience on Pensacola but it seems that I've read it is kind of hit and miss and their price is pretty low compared to companies that know how to tweak the pumps like conestoga diesel and R&D

So I am ordering my injection pump on Friday from TheDieselStore and I am wondering how long can I go before getting it timed by a mechanic as I don't have the equipment. I plan to get it timed by a mechanic the day after I install it - hopefully. But depending on prices and the availability of the mechanics it could be some time before they are able to actual time it. So bottom line, how long can I go before needing it timed by a mechanic?

Get it as close as possible by ear/feel and you're good to go as long as necessary until you get it done. Unlike a gasser incorrect timing won't cause engine damage to the IDI, just poor performance and fuel economy.

Using the method where you leave the pump gear in place you can get as close as you can get without dynamic timing. Look up how to remove pump without changing timing, I haven't gotten mine timed after changing pumps but I did change timing 3 times before I was happy.

Okay so I just ordered my IP. I am going to replace the injectors and IP at the same time. Do i need to replace the fuel filter along with it or should it not be a big concern? It was replaced within the past 3-5 months.

Hopefully after the replacement and timing my truck will have a strong idle and wont feel weak and die sometimes while going down the road which is annoying. I believe the governor was messed up and failing which was leading to the stalling out issues.

If you have any tips or suggestions while I'm doing the work please let me know.

Thanks!
