so your paying roughly $210 a full cord since a face cord is 1/3 or so of an actual cord
that ain't too bad for this time of year
one guy wanted to charge me $55 a criss crossed stack 18" x 18" x 4ft high
and it was popular-I told him heck no
he said oh no it's hard wood--I know what wood looks like, can't fool a ole country boy

On the plus side, I have all the wood I can possibly want for a long time. I can't even get to all of it I want to cut up! A fair amount of it is maple locust and pecan.
Down sides?
A lot of the locust is wrapped in poison ivy vines, and I don't have a wood burner to use it in anyway - a fireplace would have been a real smart thing to look for way back when I was house-shopping.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH SNOW BE HAPPY!
We got bombed with ice down here, and there is more on the way at the end of next week. I could kick myself for giving away my last pair of ice skates years ago, since the road to my house has been a skating rink for several days.
The post office hung it up at the beginning of the week, and only just began delivering again today.
In seven days we are expecting a repeat, possibly worse than the first round.

One thing about more southern climes is the homes aren't usually insulated as well as farther north because it isn't necessary. Usually.
Frozen water pipes is a bigger threat because of this. Check the temperature of the water coming from tap. Iirc 38F is the magic number for pipes, below this and it's advisable to leave a stream of water running (a trickle, about the diameter of pencil lead); Burst pipes are a big PITA.

okay I just googled it-a cord is less than that 4x4x8
your getting a stack 4ft by 8 ft x the length of the log 16" or 18"
I do know in the city they charge $100 or more for what they call a rack which is a rack across the back of a pickup truck-only as high as the bed is
so your getting roughly 48 sq ft of wood-rather than 128 sq ft
now I am understanding this cord face cord rack system
we used to sell it by the truck load with sides on my truck was a bit over a cord I'm sure
but were only getting $100 to 110 but that was 20 or so years ago
