NEXUS 7 (older version) for torque app

I can get a new Nexus 7

1G Ram
32 Gig Flash memory
4G LTE
1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core CPU

for $140.

I want to use torque and will probably put some kind of GPS app on it along with a few other travel related apps.

Will this work well, or should I be holding out for for the 2003 version or be looking at some other tables as well?

Normally I would research this for a few days, but this $140 price ends today so I wanted to get whatever feedback I can find quickly.

Thanks!

I have one and it works fine with the updates.

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on that one. It also turned out that the price was the same even after the special deal expired....

I missed this thread somehow. I thought I saw the 2013 version for something like $170 somewhere, but I haven't looked lately.

I already pulled the trigger. Is there some major drawback to the older one?

I don't think my eyes are good enough the benefit from the increased screen resolution of the new one.

The only thing that seemed like it would matter was the newer has 2G of ram vs 1G for the old one. I was hoping that if I'm not running too many things that this should not be a problem. The max I can envision running at the same time is torque, GPS app, music player and possibly a web browser. I'd be fine if I were limited to torqe+gps though.

The older one is supposed to be able to be updated to the latest Android version too, so it's not obsolete out of the box either.

The new one is better, but the older one is fine for your purposes. You won't regret saving some money.
