FICM Power Relay Problem Hint

FICM Power Relay Problem Hint
I meant to post this earlier. If you are experiencing, after a cold morning start, a loss of power and the GP light comes on momentarily, the FICM power relay is going bad. It would also sometimes set the CKT and CKP sensors are OPEN DTCs that I would have to clear before it would start. This would only happen when the motor was cold. The rest of the day, there was no issue with starting. It may happen only once or it could happen 5 or 6 times. It is probably due to relay contacts pitting or burning and after continuous cycling of the relay would finally make good enough contact to run normally. This was the hint that I had but CHEEZIT actually got me on the trail. He said my problem was due to PCM or FICM power resets. That was what happened. If the motor did not die, the FICM power was just reset due to bad relay contact.
Suggestion: If your truck dies or just won't start, I would recommend that you cycle the key on and off about 10 times and then try to start. That may get you home or to a dealer.
