Please redirect me if this isn't the correct section for my post, but I couldn't find a spot for my 1997 F-250. But anyway, I have a 1997 f-250 that shifts real hard on occasion, and it isn't very often. It is an automatic. When I am going up hill and stomp on the gas, the overdrive off light starts blinking and it shifts real hard. Then I pull over and turn the vehicle off and immediately back on the light is off and it shifts fine like nothing happened. Do you guys have any idea of what it might be? Thanks in advance.

 

The blinking OD light means something is wrong. The only way to know what's wrong is to get the codes read. The codes will stay in memory for about a month after the last time the light blinked.

The places that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. You need either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.
