Idle speed adjustment Triton V10

Stock 2002 Beast , 4wd

My idle speed is around 900 rpm and I would like to get it down around 500.

What is recommended idle speed and how is it adjusted?

Idle speed is set at the factory on the throttle body by a long grub screw. Your never suppose to touch it, then the computer keeps the idle set with the IAC valve

Why's the V10 idle so high compared to the 5.4 in the super duty especially since the V10 is just a 5.4 with two extra cylinders? The 5.4 is 600-700rpm I recall...

My 5.4 Expedition is around 800 rpm ish i'll double check. Def not anywhere near 500-600.

I upped my idle speed on my V10 with my SCT tuner to 975 rpm. better charging at idle, better heat at idle. win/win!

The only thing that I have ever seen idol that low (500-600rpm) is very old in-line engines, like my Oliver super 55 gas tractor and it recommends a minimum of something like 70 octane gas.

My experience with Explorers and Rangers is the Ford 302 V8 and the 4.0 OHV and SOHC V6's liked 500-600.

My SCT tuner has an option for changing both the idle rpm and rpm in drive.

My 04 F350 with the 5.4 idles at 650ish and thats for as long as i can remember it being, NOW if thats wrong and too low maybe thats why I'm having all these problems with my truck stalling when i first start it up?
