I wanted to install the lifters/cam first just because its easier without the crankshaft in the way but the wrong bushing has put that at least 5 days late. Just trying to do what I can till new bushing gets here, hopefully by Friday. Crankshaft all cleaned up and installed with new bearings and assembly lube. Three steps to max torque, still spins nice and free.

Coming together nicely. Building my cummins was probably the most enjoyable part of my swap. Something about building engines has a calming effect for me.

I agree on the calming effect, iPod blasting favorite tunes in the background...

Have I mentioned lately how much I enjoy my new engine stand?

This is the first engine Ive side mounted. I think Im gonna like it, at least with 6bt, mainly for removing and installing the camshaft. Turn the engine with the front up, lifters in the raised position, the cam is very easy to handle in or out.

Crapola, the video didn't load properly, takes you to photobucket. Oh well...

Just found this & read the whole thing. Nice work!

As others have said - I love the engine stand & the time taken on the motor. I've been too lazy (chicken as well) to tear my motor down, but seeing Brandon's (CO425) and now yours I'm really thinking I should have. I'm much more of a fabricator than a mechanic though so rebuilds like you are doing scare me a bit.

Thumbs up

I appreciate the kind words. Rebuilding is just keeping it clean and attention to detail which we all know you are VERY good at.

This engine only had about 160k on it when I pulled it. Had I been able to install it two years ago I would have just cleaned it up, painted and stuffed it. It ran great. However I dont trust engines that set for awhile. Rings, seals and washers can give you fits

This is what REALLY scares me about mine. Especially because it's been sitting around in the truck for about 8 years while I've been building

My youngest turns 18 tomorrow, I had to come home and cook her b-day meal so no new progress this eve. I will post a couple pics of her car for you tho. Purchased this a little over 3 yrs ago, lots of hours invested in this baby...my daughter too

What kind of door lock actuators is everybody using? I need to get this stuff ordered and on hand for the swap/downtime.
