I admire you guys bravery for even mentioning a (I think it's called stand alone system) or a simple wiring system to make the modern EFI engine run.
I've posted the same subject on several other sites with no replies. I did get one fellow saying "he'd never heard of any one wanting to do that before".
I want to do the same thing but just as cheap and generic as I can get for a engine break in (test run) stand to run a 4.2L V6 and a 4.9L inline. Both F-150 engines. I support your ideas and development. But for me the cost HAS to be minimul. I do not want install a untested engine in a chassis. TOO MUCH LABOR getting the thing back in a cab forward designed truck. I too love the EFI. I Don't ever want to go back to carburator days. bl2009

I am currently installing a 96 4.6 engine into my 66 f100 with a cv suspension.....I am just starting to even look at wiring as its my weakest point of my skills..,
I have looked at the Ron Francis kit for around $850....
I have the COMPLETE harness from the donor car....but as I said I lack the know how,
so buying a plug and play kit would be awesome....but to me has to be under a grand in Canadian dollars

The Ron Francis kit is not a plug and play kit. It is individual wires that you have to put in place.
Check with HotwireAuto - Fuel Injected Wiring Harnesses He will make you a plug-n-play harness for your truck. I am pretty sure that the pricing will be over $1,000 US.
I made my harness myself for my 63 F100 but that was a lot of work.

Wiring harness for 4.6
hello i am glad i found someone who has done a harness for the 4.6 i was wondering if you could make a stand alone harness for a 4v 4.6 i have done some changes to make it more acceptable for my project. I have put plug on coils for it first off then have put all new sensors for a 06 motor the car i am putting this in is a 06 so thats the reason behind that the block is a teksid with the 4v heads and has a mmr intake on it 80 lb injectors ken bell throttle body comp cams weisco pistons and a few other things what i would like is a plug and play harness for it and if you can do that shoot me a price too. I'm 5 years into my 2 year project and it’s now time for the dreaded wiring. I'm building a 1926 Studebaker and the engine and transmission are from a 1997 Mustang GT. It's the single overhead cam 4.7L Romeo motor with the 4R70W transmission that I'm looking to get the Stand Alone setup for. I'm very interesting in working with you to see what it would take to get a stand alone setup for this build.
I've never posted on this blog or messaged in here, so I hope I'm doing this right :-)

I have a 4.6 3V and the cost from Megasquit is about $1,500 for my engine, Ron Francis would run me about $1,300 plus shipping. Andrew's price isn't off base if it's a plug and play, it just depends on your skill level and if you really just want to plug and play and cruise.

Some of you have seen my shop truck build. I did a CV suspension and 4.6 2v and 4r75w trans. I do not run the stock PCM which makes tuning much easier and the install much cleaner.
I have seen many do the CV suspension but can only assume people don't typically do the 4.6 at the same time due to the complicated electronics. I see people spending all kinds of time making other engine fit when the 4.6 is a great engine with good power and even better reliability and efficiency!
I have been contemplating putting together a complete Plug n Play ECU and/or TCU setup to give the option to use the 4.6/5.4 with or without the 4r70/75W trans. It would be a simple system that is just batch fire fuel and could be used on the EDIS ignition or Coil on plug system found on the later engines. The goal with this system would be affordability and simplicity of install.
My initial guess is that the cost for just engine control would be somewhere about $1000-1200 and with trans control about $1700-2000. A coil on plug engine will probably cost about $200-300 more due to the added wiring and ignition module, but would be the same in terms of easy of install
These would also come with base tunes too so it could easily be fired up and running well. You would need to do some fine tuning but I could also help by providing services for that too if there is demand.
I'm not trying to sell anything, just trying to see if there is a legitimate demand? It seems like people would want something like this, but I thought I would actually ask. This is one group that uses the CV swap often so to me it just makes sense.

Have you looked at Ron Francis wiring. You can also try Ford Performance or Ford Racing or whatever they are calling themselves this month. Ron Francis Wiring

51 F1 2006 4.6 PI PCM
Yes, I'd be very interested in a Plug/play 4.6 PCM with TCM.
I'm currently struggling with connections to the PCM. I put in a '06 CV 4.6 drivetrain into my 51 F1. I have the PCM and the engine harness is connected minus the B Plug from the PCM.
Would really like to have a Plug & Play ECM/TCM.
