Little screen between bowl, and HPOP.

Little screen between bowl, and HPOP.
Hey guys
Stupid question time- When I was replacing my drain valve a few days ago, I noticed a couple of things. One- The little screen between the HPOP, and fuel bowl is absolutely destroyed. Like, half of it is just hanging off. Think I can just replace that? My local O'reilly's didn't have it, that we could find. Two- The line that run from the "front" of the HPOP, and in front of the fuel bowl (Parallel to the grill) was barely on, I removed it with two fingers, no wrench involved. I tightened it down after putting the bowl back in, but I was hoping to ask how tight I should have made it. I made it hand tight, plus just a little bump with a wrench. Third- The lines both under the fuel bowl, and that run from the "bottom" of the bowl to the HPOP, they were different, and feel very fibrous compared to the other lines. Are these lines under higher pressure for some reason, and needed to be different, or will my normal line cut it?
Edit- I have yet to start the pickup, so any mistakes I've made are easily reversible.
Also, should I fill the fuel bowl with diesel when I go to prime/restart?
Side Note- Crimp clamps are infuriating.
Thank you, guys.

The fuel lines under the bowl to the fuel pump should be blue.
The steel braided lines on the front should be bottomed out plus 1/2-3/4 of a turn
To prime the system fill the bowl with fuel and start cranking.
For the screen go to Home Depot or lowes and get a screen for a kitchen faucet and cut to fit. Cost a dollar.
No fuel lines run to the hpop. The hpop is mounted to the front cover. The fuel pump is mounted behind the fuel bowl.

I may be way off the mark, but- I had two of the blue lines. One runs from the pump, to the bowl on the bottom. One ran from a connection toward the bottom of the bowl upward toward the HPOP, where it was connected with a crimp clamp. I was assuming it was a return line, or something.

You want to use diesel rated hose for the fuel lines. Fuel System Parts & Filters - 1994-1998 Ford 7.3L
But as stated the fuel line does not run to the hpop. This may help. Been awhile since I messed with the stock system.
