It will be quite satisfying if it works as planned, that's for sure. And, I learned a lot about 3D drawing as well.

Like to see the finished product and how it looks installed. I would do this to mine but the cracks are already past the speaker grill. I already planned on getting a new dash pad itself sure it costs $400 roughly but I planned on seeing if LMC can sell me the UV stabilized paint they use on their door panels so I can paint the dashpad on mine.

Too bad you're in Houston or I would give you a decent dash pad. I just don't see how it would survive shipping though.

I will be going new this time, this pad that is gone now was a good pad installed back in '94 that came out of a Lariat in the junkyard, afterwards I found out the truck had a bad engine and the junkyard would have taken just $1,200 for it. Was very clean but I already had the dash pad removed. It lasted a good while though but I think I will be happier with a new one made with modern components. Hopefully will last longer.

Good news! The Dash patch has passed Shapeway's Q.C. check and is in production.
Gary, it seems it is "good to go"

Excellent! Was that both pieces? And, did they say they can make it w/o warping? What material are they using?

The material I picked is their "white, strong flexible plastic" Structural.
They have cleared the Dash patch for production, collar is next up.......

Thanks, Jim. It was a team effort, and I hope FTE'ers can use the result.

Shapeways update: they have O.K.ed the QC process on the lock collar, both the speaker patch and the collar are being sent to printing!
See, you can get an old dog to learn new things!
Thanks Gary!

(got another project for you, don't worry...no CAD involved)
will PM ya

Cool! But, at 67 I'm surely the elder of this dynamic duo - and I agree that old dogs can learn new tricks!
