^^^^^^That's a totally different question.

Your first post was simply swapping engines that are not of the same engine family... no luck there.

More info needed.... 2WD? 4WD? What trans do you have now? Type? Model Number? The more info you can provide usually results in better responses.

OP says he as a 351C and wants to go to a 302, right?

351C and 302 have the same bell pattern.

OP has a '77, more likely OP has a 351M. No go, as per above posts.

More info needed as per previous post.

The 351c actually does use the small block trans bolt pattern so a 302 will bolt right up, the question is do you really have a 351c because it was never factory installed in a truck.

Actually the 351c and 302 have the same bolt pattern for the bell housing. Now whether you actually have a 351c which was never offered in a Ford truck (not counting a Ranchero)is a different matter. There have been lots of 351m's that magically turned into 351c's because owners didnt want to tell their buddies thats what they had.

Sorry Paul I started this about 30 minutes ago and got called away. Didnt see your post til after I posted.

Egg on my face. I stand corrected and am man enough to state I am wrong. Thanks for setting me straight.

... I always thought the 351C and the 351M/400 are cousins and don't share the SBF pattern.

They are cousins, but the 351c is more like a little cousin with a small block pattern while the 351m/400 are older cousins with a big block pattern.(Even though I have been corrected on here before by someone who says "small block and big block" is a Chevrolet term and was never designated that by Ford. I have heard it used my whole adult life so I choose to use it also)

The 351 c top 2 bell housing bolts are approximately 5" center to center. The 351m are approximately 7 3/4" center to center. Also the motor mounts for a cleveland only used 2 bolts to mount to engine. The 351 m uses 3.

351C's were not installed in F100/350's.

351C = 1970/74 misc Ford/Merc Passenger Cars & Ford Ranchero's only.

351M = Misc 1975/79 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars - 1977/79 F100/350 - 1978/82 Bronco - 1980/82 F150/350.
