Senix is referring to the receiver ball mount on SUVs that don't have step bumpers.

It just struck me as weird seeing a couple different trucks this way. Upside down receiver I can understand, it's for ground clearance, I can't figure out why somebody would bolt the ball on the bumper upside down. Maybe it's just confuse people like us! Lol

Also...

I've seen people do it to roommates back in college that they knew never used their hitch, and weren't very observant.

It would stay upside down for months or years before the owner noticed.

By installing the ball upside down, you have the ball available without blocking the view of the license plate.

Possible, but I don't think so. If that was the case it would be easier just to leave it alone, or take it off completely.

It easy to explain. It for those folks that think the meaning of you being upside down on trailer (as in payments vs value) means the trailer must be towed upside down
