Well it took a while to do it but we finally decided to trade our 02 F250 in on a 2010 F150 lariat 4x4 super crew.

The new truck has a 5.4L with 3.73LS. It also has a custom pinstripe and spray in liner to my knowledge.

We do have a few mods in our head:
fog light with brights
maybe a small truck box or a bed cover
dual exhaust w/chrome tips
set of wheels and BFG TA KO2s keeping the 20s (not sure what wheel just yet)
seat covers
once warn comes out with it a hidden winch kit (maybe)
full led bulb swap
some led lights behind the grille (not raptor style)
running boards (dad and mom can barely get in the truck).
and probably more

I do have a few quick questions:
Will the 2014 STX grille fit?

Is their a picture thread on this part of the forum?

What is a good cheap set of running boards (cab length)?

Do the seat cover have to be air bag safe?

thanks once we get the dent out of the bumper (trailer pushed it in from turning to far I am guessing) and figure out how to work a few more things it will be even nicer.
Also we will love it once the dealership calls us when they get the parts for the back up camera (it glitches once in a while) and the new driver side seat leather.

The old superduty looks tired but well kept. Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the 2009-2014 forum!

Thank you very much. I am going to miss the power on the high end of the V10 and the hauling power but I feel this is a nice upgrade also. Now I got to get use to two vehicles with leather.

Thanks. I hope that White horse (the name of her) is a good thing that it reminds you of yours. LOL

The super duty was and always will be a great truck. I wouldn't say she was tired but I would say that it wasn't as luxurious as this truck. She had been through a lot with us so if I don't get the chance to buy her back I hope she goes to somebody who takes great care of it and it doesn't see some of the loads we put it through.
Thanks for the welcome and congrats.

I did find out the STX grille will fit so now just have to find out the other questions.
Also just waiting to bring her back and get the new rear view mirror and leather seat fixed.

Hey Trav! I just got a 2010 F150 Platinum last week. It's my first American DD that I've owned, I've always gone with Japanese cars for gas mileage but couldn't pass up the Platinum and all it's awesomeness. I usually hang in the 87-96 (97HD) area and recognize you from there. Didn't trade in my other baby the 97 F250HD though. Wifey still doesn't understand why a guy needs two trucks. I told her the 250 has the 8' bed and is the beater!

Nice new ride!

Thanks. Yes I still will be in that part of the section very often. Actually I am all over the forum really because my families vehicle list is so long.
The main reason is because with this our truck list is now:
2010 F150 4x4 5.4L (White Horse)
1988 F150 4x4 5.0L (White Lightnin')
1992 F250 4x4 5.8L (White Knight)
1991 F250 4x4 7.5L (Cross bones)
1989 F250 4x4 5.8L (Taz)
1989 F350 2wd 7.5L (Canadian red)
1996 Ranger 4x4 4.0L (Tornado)
1990 F150 4x4 5.0L (Twister)

And that is just the ford truck list it doesn't include the stang or the suvs or gms. Also doesn't include the most important Harleys! LOL

I hope your 10 platinum takes good care of you. That is one thing I will miss a 6' bed instead of 5.5' bed but that will hopefully help from using it for hauling.

I have had quite a few 5.4 engine trucks. I never got a return on investment on cold air intakes, exhaust systems, computer chips. I even took the cats off a F350 and got nothing to show for the trouble. IF I would do anything to the exhaust would be a Flowmaster muffler or equal and keep the rat of the pipes. We had some company trucks with 250,000 miles and most only needed plugs and coil packs around 150,000. Don't spray water on the engine unless you like buying coil packs

This is my 4th modular engine and 2nd 5.4L.
The last 5.4L was junk but I think it was beat way to hard it was in a 06 F150 2wd crew XLT.
I only plan to do a SCT tuner with custom 5 star tunes (just like the SD in the pics) as I have heard they are really good (at least in the SD world not sure why it would be different in the F150 world).
I plan a dual exhaust (not sure if out each side or out the back) but not for power more of for looks and sound. I had a banks on the 02 and loved but this one will either be a MBRP, Magnaflow, or flowmaster catback. Keeping the cats on this one as it will be the long distance truck.
I also plan to do some headers (after it is paid off).
Other then that unless their is a 5.4L supercharger this thing is staying stock engine wise.
I never ever put one of those cold air intakes on trucks if anything a drop in filter.

Like I said this truck is mostly going to be our good truck and long distance (just like the 02 after I stopped pulling with it) so mostly looks, reliability, and comfort (hence why I am kinda glad we got the Lariat).

I never spray the engine compartment mostly because of the coil packs. I have a explorer 4.0L, brother has a ranger 4.0L, and mom has a 5.3L GMC all with coil packs so I know a bit about coil packs.

I am willing to listen to any other mods y'all think I should do. I think we might remove the lower valance before it gets broken on these backroads (yes it will be seeing backroads but hopefully no mud or snow).

On both my 5.4's I had KN cold air intake and Borla exhaust. On my 01 I had a HyperChip super tuner & my 08 I had an Edge. The 5.4 sounded great, but I'm not sure I really improved the performance much. On the 08 I couldn't run the performance tune when it was cold out (low teens, single digits). I'm not sure if it was the Edge tune or just that that a performance tune didn't work when it was cold.

That is part of the reason I plan to run a SCT custom 5 star tunes. I personally don't care much for canned tunes.

Congratas on the new to you truck! You will quickly forget all about the super duty as driving the F150 will be easier and more fun to drive. Welcome to this side of the fence! (it's better over here anyway)

Thanks. I don't know if I can forget about a truck like the SD but for sure the F150 is easier to drive. Fun to drive I would have to say right now they are about even.
Well if this side of the forum doesn't have a show off thread I might have to start one as I like to post pics. LOL

Well yesterday the outside dogs I guess were jealous or mad because they tore the paper plate off the truck. So yesterday we had to get a new one from the dealership (80-90 mile trip both ways) so that wasn't the best of news. Luckly however I got through that day better then last years when my 88 F150 blew up.

Hopefully it won't rain today and I can take it out tomorrow for my b-day. LOL
