Haha, I knew somebody would catch that. I figure a little oil in the landfill will help get the process started so all the other junk can turn into oil too....we'll find out in about 500,000 years....
Removing the oil filter is messy but if you follow what somebody said earlier (spin it a few turns and let it drain until is almost stops) and wait until the flow stops it's not too bad as long as you're ready for it.

I used a 5 gallon bucket so there was no splash from the engine pan, I've changed oil so many times I don't any issues with the pan bolt. My problem was strictly the filter, when I screwed it off it splashed my face. I think I'll try to punch a big hole next time and just budget an extra hour to drain it out.
Yes Normal oil for me is conventional Ruschejj, I have 3 cars, 2 motorcycles, 2 ATV's, wife's SUV, and the 250. Seems like I'm changing oil on something almost every month and this diesel oil is nasty compared to conventional. Might try the rubber gloves, never done that before but couldn't hurt.

If you are going to punch a hole in the filter it is a good idea to break the filter loose first. Twice I have had filters stuck to the point of breaking my filter wrench after I punched a hole in them. Punching the hole had nothing to do with them sticking it is just a lot easier on the mind to know the filter will come off before you render it obsolete.

I poked a hole in mine, let her drain into the tub and then removed the drain bolt. no mess but i bought a big plastic tube to drain into, then drain it into a conventional oil drain with a spigot which then goes back into the original containers and down to autozone for recycling. The 6.0 had the cartridge which was easier and neater but the 7.3s had the big old spin ons as well. yes, diesel oil is nasty. i am another one who has 5 trucks and cars, and a bunch of motorcycles and other toys. Changing oil every few weeks in something for sure. I like the truck as i can crawl under it with no jacks or ramps needed...

I found cutting the jug to be shorter than the filter let me un-screw the filter while having the jug pressed against the bottom of the filter so it didn't fall too far.
Here is my jug with my oil filter (I have the BPD remove oil cooler - hence I don't use the cartridge type OEM filters).

Those are pretty handy, my buddy has one at his shop. But it wouldn't help with the oil above the oil filter that is held up by the anti drain back valve in the oil filter. Draining the oil is not too bad. Removing the filter is the messy part.
