What do you think?
So i have posted that i have a 74sb f100 with a 390 out of a 65tbird with some extras. I should be pushing 350hp and about 450 torque. I love this truck but have wanted a 4x4 for sometime. A friend of mine told me he had a 74sb 4x4 with a blown 360 that he would sell me cheap. So here is my thought. I will take my motor and put it in the 4x4. Simple right! so now since I still love my 2wd, Its lowered and looks great "needs paint" So for a motor for the 2wd I have an idea.
I have a 95 super coupe with 75k on it. Runs perfect. Its a 3.8l supercharged with a 4r70w trans. In stock form the SC puts out 240hp 330 torque and weights 3750 lbs "I know very heavy car for the size" There are some very simple mods with this motor to push it to 280hp and still be very reliable. My truck weights 4k but the motor weights 650lbs where the v6 weights 327 so the weight ends up being just about the same. The V6 in the SC gets about 20MPG but I know in the truck with it being much taller and a lot more wind resistance I would be happy with 16. I am a pretty good fabricator and own a shop. The body and inter on the SC are pretty bad and for some reason even in good shape they dont have great value"not sure why" so I dont mind hacking up this car for the things I need. So what do you think? Cool idea or stupid. I have no desire to build the 360 as cost to build one right is high. I have seen plenty of late model 5.0s put in our trucks so why not put a V6 that has more HP and torque then a 5.0 plus much lighter. Thanks for reading. The members here have helped me now several times and everyone here is great.

Thanks Bud Mud. I think it would be very different but if ford can get crazy power from the 3.5 ecoboost using a turbo why not do the same thing with a 3.8 supercharged. Now the 3.8 is not known for being the most reliable when super charged but 90% of the problem is the very restricted exhaust. after the cats where the pipes combine its chocked down to 1.5" then it expands again. this causes to much back pressure which blows the head gaskets. If you put headers and a free flowing exhaust put a tune on it you can underdrive the charger and boost up to 18. factory is 12 and without opening the exhaust never underdrive the charger as it will blow head gaskets.
