1999 to 2002 Cab Swap
Hello, Just looking for some suggestions and input on this project I am about to start.
I have a 1999 F-350 Super Duty XL reg. cab & chassis with an aluminum flat bed. It's a 7.3, 4X4, auto, has 165K. Runs and pulls well. The cab corners and back floor of the cab are rotted through. Have been patching it up to pass state inspection. I need to do something more permanent. Have gotten very high estimates to have a body shop do the repair so I decided to look for a replacement cab.
Found a complete 2002 F-250 Super Duty XL 2wd with a blown V-10. Cab is in very nice condition...no rust.
Planning to swap the entire dash / interior wiring harness and modules from the 99 to the 02 cab. From what I read , this should fit the 02 cab.
The cab looks like it should swap over and mount on the existing frame brackets even though the 99 is a cab & chassis and the 02 is a pickup. Please make
any comments or suggestions that would help me through this.
Thanks very much!! George

Do the cab swap, otherwise you will be chasing rust for a long time.
Yes , even tho the 02cab is a 2 wheel drive, there should be no problem.
Thinking about it a bit, if the 99 has a manual transferable, you will need to deal with the floor plan opening.
Not a big deal since you have the sonar , and recipient together.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know what other years will fit for this swap?
I have a 2000 ext cab that's rusted beyond repair.
What year cabs will bolt to the frame with the right bed/firewall clearances? I'm not really concerned with the interior matching, if need be I'd swap the entire interior out.

The cab panels are the same, the front clip is a total different animal from 08 to 10.

I did this with my 04 Supercab and used an 05 cab for the swap. The dash is only attached by 4 bolts after you unbolt the steering column so you don't need to take it all apart to remove it. I found out the hard way when I started stripping the 05 cab exactly how the dash mounts. You might have to change the configuration where the computer plugs into the firewall. I ended up cutting that section out of the old cab and welding it into the new cab. The whole process took about 3 weeks but while I had the cab off I cleaned and painted the frame, did exhaust manifolds, power steering and transmission lines and the oil cooler. It's been a year and a half since I completed the swap and I've had no major issues.
