TOOLBOX LIGHT BAR

I've been searching and searching for days and just can't seem to find anyone that has either done it or thought about doing it.

Here's my idea .... I'd like to mount a 22" light bar to the rear of my truck. The only place I can think of putting it that would be beneficial is the outside of my toolbox. I understand that it's susceptible to being stolen.

I'm searching for opinions .. good idea or bad idea ... and most importantly ... WHY??? Thanks in advance.

What about mounting a surface mount light or led lights on your tool box?

I have heard of people using the led light strips and putting them under the bed rails.

Iaff1123 ... I'll look at those

Senix .... I actually tried that, but the strips didn't last very long ... About 3 months. They dried up and started falling off. Maybe I got a bad batch or just cheap quality lights, but I'm hoping for a more substantial solution.

I've thought about this as well since I have a headache rack that blocks the OEM cargo lights so I'm in the dark in the bed at night.

My idea for a cleaner look was to use something like this: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...nch/1545/3513/

Mount it to the inside of the toolbox lid. That way you can just open the lid when you need light in the bed and not have to worry about somebody being able to steal it.

Also, since it's on swivel ends you could somewhat aim it to provide light for either the bed or the toolbox depending on what you're doing.

I went with an LED strip inside the tool box for those dark nights when I have to grab something. I also added LeD's under the rails and they have been under there over a year now and going strong!

To add light behind the truck I got 9w reverse bulbs and a set of small led light bars on my upfitter switch mounted to my hitch.

You have never said what you are trying to illuminate. The box? The bed? Behind the truck? It kinda makes a difference as what to suggest to ya.

My original intent was to illuminate the truck bed, but I'm also concerned about seeing inside the toolbox.
