I do like repainted hood though. Ford botched that one with the aluminum hoods and cracked finish.

Only issue with that is if the rest of the truck is faded and the hood looks brand new it looks like something up too

If your going to keep it and the paint is peeling, go ahead and repaint it. Ours is losing the clear coat on the hood also, looks like crap. I'd like to see a purple EX. My daily driver is Ultra Violet. I should've looked for a better picture, it looks blue in this one.

a good body shop can fade and match the hood so you won't know. If done right with good materials, it can be far superior to the super thin clearcoat factory jobs. Problem on the hoods was so bad ford found it easier and cheaper to replace rather than prep the old hood. I plan to replace mine with a cowl or vented hood.

A good aftermarket paint job, done by a pro that knows what they are doing will look better and hold up just as well as any OEM paint. Now i do agree if you can save the OEM paint as it's the best. But there is nothing wrong with repairs, these days they can match so well you'd never know there was work done. My expedition had to have the whole right rear QT panel and door replaced, paint matches perfectly.

Now when you get into custom stuff that's when the fun starts!

My '91 F-250 before, Thanks Ford for the horrible flaking paint. I decided to paint it one of my fav colors!

After!
