Replaced injectors today with new ones. Truck does seem to run better, but not sure if it's me just wanting to think it solved the issue. I reset the computer and going to drive the truck for a few days and let the truck re-learn and see how it does.

I will report back.

Well, it is much better... But still around 1000-1200rpm the truck feels gutless up a small grade until it downshifts. I honestly think its just FORDS crappy shift points. The problem never happens with I turn OD off. Best way I could describe is that during light throttle it feels like its over fueling causing the truck to stumble.

I bought into the hype and contacted Mike @ 5 Star hoping his shift points and tune resolves my issue.

Ok, pinging is still there. Feels like a dog etc. Still waiting on Mikes tune but I think I have something else going on.

I have had a couple shops look at it and no fix yet. I am at the point of replacing the TPS, oxygen sensors and that way I know I have all good sensors in the truck.

On a good note, I am now getting 10.1mpg.

Wow, what an ordeal. What I've gleaned:

1. This truck has suffered pretty severe neglect due to lack of scheduled maintenance.
2. In the interest of catching up with the neglect, a lot of parts (and guesses) are being thrown at it by several different individuals.

Yeah, truck was pretty rough mechanically when I purchased it. I got the truck for half what book says it's worth, so I knew I would have to throw some money at it. I now have a good base of where it's at and it's running much better then when I initially bought it.

TPS was cheap along with oxygen sensors so I put new ones in. Figured now I know all the parts and sensors that normally go bad over time have all been replaced so I now know they shouldn't need replacing for a long while again.

Only things left to make the engine run bad would be a dying fuel pump or bad fuel pressure regulator but those seem to test out fine so I am going to hold off on those.

Next place is starting to look for an exhaust leak.

Ok, well the truck is running as good as it can I guess. I put 90 octane in the tank and the pinging is 99.9% gone. Getting 10mpg, super reliable and seems to be running good except for a slight stutter every now and then when idling. Not enough to move the Tachometer, but I can feel a slight stutter.

It's an old truck and it could just be the nature of the beast. It pulls my trailer without issue and that's what I bought it for. Hopefully she lasts another 200k.

Hopefully that cleared my issue up!

My plugs started to fall apart. I just replaced them all. They can be found on ebay for about $4 each.

Glad she's running better, now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Ok, got my tunes yesterday, worked with Mike... He is very responsive and even sent me my tunes after hours!

Keep in mind I used to own a 2001 Ford Lightning with a magnum powers blower, dyno tuned, blah blah until just recently. 400rwhp, 550rwtq.

Mikes performance tune is great for daily driving, commuting to work etc. Not really aggressive shifts, but very driveable. Feels like the truck went on a diet and does get up to speed faster but its no race car.

The tow tune on the other hand... HOLY LOVE OF GOD. Give that truck hell in first gear and be prepared to pucker when it shifts into second gear. Really reminded me of my lightning's shift points. Not only that, it will spin to 5500rpm shift, 5500 and shift every time and do it effectively. Makes you feel like you gained 50rwhp by the seat of the pants. Really woke my truck up.

If you are debating on a tune for your truck hit up Mike. Well worth your money! My truck is completely stock too...

I bought the 87performance, 87 tow and 89 performance.

If I was to do it over... I would do 87 performance, 87 tow, 89 tow.

To give you an idea, my buddy's 99 F250 has headers, Y pipe, and was tuned by someone else... I got to drive his truck yesterday and I can tell you hands down Mike's tunes are much better! I don't want slander anyone, but lets just say your money is much better spent with Mike!

A slight shake/miss feeling at idle in a V-10 is totally normal. Seems like all the mod motors can do it. Mine does it a little. I was worried and googled it. Seems like 90% of them do it and causes no problems.

I respectfully disagree. My V10 at idle is Cadillac smooth. In Park, or foot-on-the-brake-in-drive.

You can disagree all you want. But there are alot of threads about trucks with 5k miles on them doing this way back in 03. It is really minor and I can't hear it as much as I can feel a little blip every 15 seconds.

Your post comes across a bit rude "you can disagree all you want"...

And besides that the remainder of what you said refers to information that is 12 years old.

The op's motor was a older one just like in that thread. As is mine its a 03 as well. He was chasing a little low grade blip and sounds like he put ALOT of money into it to figure it out. I just wanted to share what I found. I only referenced the older thread to show new trucks with 1100 miles were having this issue as well. As to being rude. I assure you if I was being rude you would know!
