Newbie knows nothing

I just bought a 2004 Escape xlt with 96,000 miles and a four wheel drive switch on the dash. I have a few questions. What transmission does this have? Is it a good idea to replace all coil packs and plugs or wait for them to go bad? Any and all tips appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Plugs were 100,000 interval if I remember correctly.
As far as coils, they could go bad tomorrow morning on your way to work or they could last another 200,000 miles. There is no rhyme or reason as to when/why they go bad.

I don't know the trans, but I think its the same as in the FWD version. But I can't promise that.

Keep up the maintenance and you should have a vehicle to last you quite a while. Mine has 288,000 and is only down right now because it needs another alternator.

CD4E is your trans There in all Escapes till 09 then they changed to the 6f35. 6 speed. There is a good write up on this site to help you do the plug change for the V6 there is disassemble required. My 01 has 191,000 miles I had 2 cop go bad other 4 are original.
