Factory F series Tach

Bill ND, do you have any information on the factory vacuum gauge that came, (I think) in a F-350 or larger truck? I have a pic of it but will need to send it to someone to post for me. I gave up trying to post pics. Guess I'm computer dumb. Anyone want to post a pic for me if I send it to you? It is I believe a 3-1/4 or 3-3/8 inch that goes in one of the large hole shaped areas to each side of the speedo unit. I got the pic from someone on this site when they posted it.
IF ANYONE has one or knows of where I can get one, working preferably, I thank you. Something I've always wanted and could never find. Even if it doesn't work but still looks OK, I may be able to have it fixed.
Thank you, Fritz

Fritz, Photos used here on the forum can only be linked, they must be uploaded to a photo site or FTE has a place for each member to store some photos. I would suggest you right click your username and select open in a new tab, once done click User CP left end of blue bar, under networking select Pictures & Albums, you should select the red button at the top Create Album, then click Upload. Once you upload them to the site or another of your choosing, you link them to the forum. This one is in my album.

I also searched for one for years, and learned that Ford only made a mechanical tachometer that was driven off the distributor.
Additionally, the distributor for the tachometer fits the FT engine, not the FE.
I know there were some Ford vacuum gauges available, but the only thing I could find was black plastic in plastic housing designed as a fuel economy accessory. It only fit the dash of large cars in the '70s though, but could be mounted on top. It was out of place in a Slick, in my opinion.

Best of luck to you, though; maybe someone has produced one since I quit looking.

No F350/600 came with air brakes.
Parts catalog pic: Air brake vacuum gauge is 2A036 or 2557. Distributor driven tachometer is 17360, but there are two different types for 1963/66 F700/1100.

Both read to 4,000 RPM, but C3TZ-17360-E has a green band w/a 1700-2600 RPM range. C3TZ-17360-F has a green band w/a 2,000-3,500 RPM range.

The above were only used with the round speedo instrument cluster in F700/1100's.

There were two optional electronic tachometers for 1965 Falcon/Fairlane, 1965/66 Mustang & F100/250. One mounted on the dash, t'other mounted on the steering column.

Another alternative would be to use the steering column mounted 1965/66 Mustang Rally Pac's that came with a clock and either a 6 grand (I-6) or 8 grand (V8) tach.

Sorry guys, I meant to put 'factory vacuum gauge in the title as I did in the body of the post. Don't know how to change the wording in the title. John, as I said, I've tried to post pics and I'm not going to try again. Just get frustrated. I'm going to see if I can get someone else to post it for me.
Thanks

Thanks Bill. I will use that information to try and trac down one, if that's at all possible. I asked someone to post the pic I sent him. Hopefully he can do it. It will be the gauge on the left. I have already installed the tach on the right side. I can send a pic of the new tach if you wish. Look for it in your mail this evening. I'm redoing that whole gauge panel.
I'll have it re-chromed and paint the inside again. I think the color was called 'argent'. Am I correct on that? The center was originally that color but when i had it rechromed the first time, i never repainted it.

ECD-100

I bet this could easily be used to drive a factory tach...

Eric, thank you for posting the pic. I tried as you suggested but no joy. Tomorrow I will go next door and ask the my neighbors 10 yr old to help me. DAAAA

Anyway, the vacuum gauge on the left is what I was referring to. I'm assuming it must measure around 3-1/4 to 3-3/8 inch like the tach I just installed. The tach I installed looks pretty much like the one on the right in the picture except mine goes to 8000rpm. There is a company that reproduces it for the Bronco guys. If anyone is interested, I can look it up and post the company.

If anyone knows where I can get one of these vacuum gauges, Please let me know.

Bill, does this one look familiar and possibly match one you numbered on the above post.

I posted the pic of the instrument cluster showing the two different air brake vacuum gauges.

But you may not be able to see these gauges very clearly in the pic as FTE has changed the way pics are posted.

They now only appear as thumbnails which can be hard to see unless one has...at least...a 25" monitor.

I have a 27" monitor, but have 70 year old eyes, so I can barely make the pics out once they are posted.

Suggest you email me and I'll send you the pic in return.

Bill, yeah, no way I can see that. I even printed it, cut it out and tried to enlarge it on my printer but it just got faded out. Not readable. My eyes are not so either. I will send you an email. Maybe you could send it that way as you suggested. Yeah, this new pic thing is, well, it is what it is. Sure would like to find one of those. There is a company that says they can pretty much restore any of the old gauge sets. Course I don't want to be tying my shoes when I get the bill.

Bill, I am going to suggest that you might have used the thumbnail version rather than full size. It took some doing but I got the circuit tester to post yesterday. just guessing

Here's a picture of some extras I have laying around. It is a dash panel with the tach and air gauge. I won't be using these. Shoot me a pm if interested.

Thanks, Jason
