Putting new head gaskets on my 6.7

2011 ford f350, 200,000 miles. I was getting an antifreeze spray on the windshield while pulling and going up a hill. It was from exhaust pressure going into the coolant system. It was building over 16 psi and blowing out the degas bottle.

That's not too bad. Are you tuned or all stock? How long has it been like this? Are you going to stud it with ARP?? A lot of questions but maybe one of the first ones we have heard with a head gasket problem. Thank you for the report back too.

Wonder if it could be a bad egr cooler. On this motor I would suspect that before head gaskets.

Yes doing it myself. It's not the egr cooler, has been deleted, egr deleted, dpf deleted. Has H&S mini maxx on it, on stock setting. They are asking 800.00 to 1000.00 for ARP studs. Got new head bolts for 50.00. Went thru 3 turbos under warranty. Took this turbo off has a lot of play and leaking oil. Buying a new one to go back on it.

Was not trying to set any records, took about 19 hours to this point.

This has been doing it for about a year. Have been putting it off. Normal driving couldn't tell anything was wrong.

Reps sent brother!!! Thank you for taking pictures! I assume you are mechanical in a sense or you wouldn't have been able to do it. You think you blew it while towing with it tuned??

Get the new '15 turbo for it. It will fit right in and you don't need any programming updates to run it.

Thanks for the info on the turbo, didn't know that. I have already purchased the same one that's on it though (BC3Z 6K682A). Learned there were a couple of turbos for that year. Also learned that a cab and chassis turbo is different (BC3Z 6K682B), than one for a pickup.
I tried to ask three ford dealors parts counter, what was included in a valve grind kit they sell. None of them could tell me what exactly was in it. They all were guessing. They have two kits if your doing head gaskets. One if you are doing it in the truck with cab off, one if your pulling the motor and doing head gaskets out of the truck. I ordered the one if your pulling motor, came with more stuff. When I got it, did not come with valve seals, head bolts, valve cover gaskets. Does come with turbo seal, intake seals, fuel injector lines, orings, bolts. Fuel filter, thermostat, exhaust manifold gaskets, torque convertor bolts, belhousing bolts, some other little stuff. (BC3Z 6079 B). The other kit last letter (A).
Bought head bolts, head gaskets, valve seals, separate.

interesting that it (the kit) would come with torque converter bolts. Those must be one time use.

Save them away I guess. Same with the bell housing.

I agree will be saving for future. I broke the bottom small turbo clamp when removing, that took some time. Was hard to get to and stuck. If you take out the passenger side fender well, helps you see it. I ordered a new one, ordered a new thermostat, and exhaust gaskets. They were all in the kit, so got a refund on those parts. Came with all three new turbo pipe clamps, exhaust studs. Came with new flywheel bolts also.
Going to buy new glowplugs. Would like to put in new injectors at this time, but cost is holding me back, (about 3500.00 to 4000.00).

So you were running the stock delete tune the entire time? Was the power level ever turned up?

Kind of disappointing to see a head gasket failure on a mostly stock tune.

just throwing it out there. Is it at all possible that the gasket could have blown due to gunk'd up coolant. i mean if the coolant gets to thick then it wouldn't be able to make its way through the passages and thus causing the build up of pressure. I only say this because i thought the manual says to change the coolant after 5years/200000 miles? I just find it hard to believe that a stock tune could cause this to happen.
