Hi guys I have a 76 4x4 highboy that had a 390 in it. Started restoring it and bought a 460 for it that turned out to be a 429. The guy through in the C-6 trans with it and said it came out of a 70 or 71 Lincoln. I know the back of the tranny has to get the 4x4 attachment put on the 429 trans. My question is will this tranny work in my highboy or do I need whole different case because of the way it mounts up in my highboy

 

you can use the trans with the 429 but you will have to fab up a transfer case shifter mount of some kind yourself.

 

I have a 1977 f250 ranger highboy with a 400m and froze the crank race and rounded out the motor. So I pulled a 460 big block form a 86 e350 motorhome. The c6 trany mounted right up and the motor was basically a plug and play. The 429 and 460 are the same block different internals correct me if I am wrong. The 351 m 400 429 and 460 all will fit the same bell housing with the exception of flywheels
