Looking at getting a new-to-me rig

Hello all! This is gonna be a somewhat winded post.

So, I'm certain this is some thing that is brough up often, but I want ask/get some opinions. I am looking at a 1994 F350 crew cab with a turbo 7.3 4x4 5 speed at a local dealership. Asking price is 4900 with 200000 miles on it and I plan on looking closer at tomorrow. I have been doing extensive research, so I know what I'm lookin for. If everything checks out, is it worth it?
Now for a little background on me. I have never owned a diesel but I have been around thanks to friends and I just happen to like them. Now, I don't plan on doing a whole lot of towing/hauling, but eventually it will happen. So at first it's gonna be my DD and camping/hunting rig, and thanks to its size it's perfect for doing this with my family as well. I know there will be some calling me nuts on this, but oh well, just need some opinons/tips/advice that anyone is willing to share. Thanks.

First, read this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...owner-faq.html

Then come back with any other questions you might have.

Since it's a 1994, confirm that it's an IDI.

If it doesn't have much in the way of rust, and it runs well, $4900 isn't bad for a CC, at least around here.

I haven't looked at it yet, but after doing a Vin search, I found that it is an ID I with factory turbo (K) and 4.10 gearing.

Well, I looked at the truck today and....it was in horrible shape, nor was it a 5 speed as the dealer advertised. Oh well, back to the drawing board lol

Wow, how hard do you have to try to screw up advertising what kind of transmission is in the truck? Tranny type probably has more impact than any other factor on who is going to be interested in the truck. Those IDIots are shooting themselves in the foot listing it that way. Oh well, good luck, your ship will come in....

No kidding. My kids have gotten to be teenagers when I wasn't looking and it's such a pain for them to get in and out of the rear seat. I've been looking on and off nationwide for a few months and so far have found exactly one within a round trip days drive and it was gone before I could act. It was also a 5 speed, which is pretty much the truck I'd want to keep forever if I can find a good one.

It's getting to the point where I've started thinking of settling for a powerstroke. That in itself wouldn't be so bad, but it's so easy to creep up past the OBS or over to a 5.9 cummins once you get started down that road.
