I finally got my Ford trailer brake controller tonight. I was so excited to install it tonight. The instructions say to pull the up fitter switches and discard the coin tray thing. OK, no problem.

The instructions make it seem like the up fitter switches pull straight out. I couldn't get them to budge! I stuck my pocket knife in around them but wasn't about to break something.

How the heck do you get the up fitter switches out so I can install the trailer brake controller?

 

you have to take the small panels out on the lower left and lower right side....you can insert a small flat screwdriver to pop them out....then remove the screws on each side....then pop off the whole center panel...panel goes all way up to and across top of radio....you can disconnect the wires as you remove it and then you have access to the back side to remove and install the trailer brake controller...
