I just put in an EBAY best offer for the one listed in the Best OBDII thread... some folks say great some say its a fake and doesn't work worth a shot for $7.99

I had the recall done today..... don't notice any difference... maybe some strange shifts as I was leaving dealer... but I was on the floor trying to sell all day.

I did order the mini ELM and downloaded the free torque app......

From what I understand, the active regen stops below a certain (speed or rpm?) and the flash allows it to run no matter what.

I am interested to learn if this flash affects the amount of fuel being dumped down the left set of cylinders during regeneration that is attributing to the regeneration valve issue that some of us are having.

Ford should not keep owners (and dealers) in the dark as to what this re flash to the PCM actually does.

my service dept didn't have a clear idea of what the reprogram did either, but description said something about EGT sensor issues..... I would think the SAFETY is the truck shutting off in traffic and folks could get hit or killed if they cant coast to the side.... probably backs it to limp mode so you can get to safety

I would think if it regen no matter what now.. we would have gotten safety instructions again about the heat being generated and where to park (you know the lawyers).. I am also guessing that's why there is no manual regen. our fire trucks regen on the road and stop and start with speed and operating temps.. and there is a Manual regen where you park out on the ramp and get it done in like 20 minutes after pushing button. we also have a regen inhibit switch. just in case we get a call during manual regen, its off with a button push, or if the truck tries to regen while pumping at a fire, or enroute to a fire, you inhibit so we can pump water efficiently.

In the early days of it there where issues in the fire service of trucks not going into pump at fires because they where in a regen.

I got my letter today, no way I am taking it in until I know what it exactly does and even then I probably won't, I will just do a delete, problem solved.

My letter arrived as well today. The lawyer passed weasel wording does allude to reliability issues in the EGTs though doesn't specifically state that's what it is going to be addressed. I have a feeling that this will be a stopgap 'fix' until more failures occur and maybe a death or at least injuries are attributed to a shutdown at 70mph at 5:00 PM on something like the New Jersey Turnpike while in the far left lane. This letter officially acknowledges that there is a known problem and may possibly open the gates for more complaints. I was fence riding but am going to have it done asap

So I'm wondering now if the programming is different on the 2015 and I bought the spare EGT sensors for nothing?
Or
Have they (Ford) just not serviced as many failures on the 2015 yet, so they don't feel that the problem extends to us?
...
I'm not looking for troubles where there are none - I just want to be prepared and as knowledgable as possible on this truck.

I don't think anything was improved for the 2015's. Keep the sensors.

Nope, they aren't going anywhere.. Those sensors along with code scanner and 13mm flare wrench stay in the truck in the back seat storage compartment..
