Dana 60 Swap

Glad you found one Joseph. That is about the going rate around here. I looked for months before I found mine. Had to go up to Indy and get it too. I put a lot of money into rebuilding both axles but they should be good for a long time. I put a Detroit true trac in the rear and would like to put one in the front too. It is basically a limited slip with out the clutches. It uses gears instead. Ctc down in chandler does really good work and can get any of the parts you need for those axles. You didn't get a bad deal. Just sounds like some body needs to raise there price

I'd just make sure you get good parts for it, I don't know that it matters a whole lot where they come from. I'd try and stick with Timken bearings and Spicer seals and parts if it's me, but that's just me. Bronco Graveyard is a good place to look, like Gabe says, as is Drivetrain America. I got some pieces parts from them for mine last time I was into it and they seemed to have good service and prices on the Spicer goodies I bought.
There is some debate out there about the inner axle seals for these things too. There is an old 1 piece design that was used for years, and a newer, 2 piece design that can be retrofitted into the housing by removing a metal lip on the seal. Supposedly the new one is a better design and should last longer, but it's more expensive and I think you could probably make the argument that if the old seal lasts 200k miles like a lot of them have, then do you really need to look for a different design? I went with the new pieces when I replaced mine, but I think either one would work just fine.
So the axle you got is a Kingpin axle then? I must have missed that part in here somehow...

Here's another shop; it's where I got my parts... DANA 60 PARTS

Just an update. I am going through with this. I'll update with information about my progress. Right now I'm working copious amounts of overtime while I accumulate parts. The overall plan is to swap to the solid Dana 60 from the 50TTB, utilizing a PMF RSK and Super Duty front springs, and regear the 10.25" rear to 4.10 gears. Also Eaton E-lockers front and rear.
Currently working plenty of overtime and waiting for a local shop to install the Eaton electric locker. They currently have the axle.
Any advice, ideas, or guidance is appreciated, especially from those with a positive attitude. Thank you for future, past, and current help.
