plug and coil pack upgrade?

Ive now had two different people suggest this and decided I better bring it to the experts with experience. The suggestion is to replace the factory plugs and packs with those from a mustang gt for an improvement in power and mileage. After a little thought it sort of makes sense. So has anyone tried this and had success? Will it even work? My truck is an 04 auto with 90k so im planning on doing plugs soon anyway. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Are the mustang plugs a different heat range? How are they better? The OEM's are already a platinum. Don't think most change the coil packs unless they are bad. I only changed one on mine.

I would just stick with Motorcraft or Autolite plugs and Motorcraft coil packs....they work!

Yeah, agree 100 million billion times with this!

Most every time some new, best ever COP/plug combo comes up soon after the regrets set in----its typically not worth the money or time spent for an imperceptible improvement.

Because the ECM controls so much changing one part of the engine management system tends to result in very little.

Those of us who've fallen for the next big thing tend to know this even more so.

they are the same part. they were on my 02 v10 and my brothers 02 gt anyway. looked up the part numbers on auto parts websites. i would only use ford oem motorcraft parts. i gave him my coils that were getting weak for his that were bad and bought new motorcraft ones. from what i understand. you have to watch buying them on ebay because they could be Chinese knockoffs. i bought mine from autozone i think

I just bought myself a set of 10 ebay coils/boots/springs and 10 motorcraft SP-479 plugs and I'm in the process of putting them in.

Personally I'm not scared of the ebay coils. Most of what I've read online is hearsay at best and I've found very few first hand accounts of ebay coils. Also there are many "Chinese" manufacturers so some might be better than others.

We'll see what happens long term but they do have a lifetime warranty.

Here in Canada it would cost me more money just for the plugs and boots alone so either way I see it I'm coming ahead...and doing valuable research

Araparts makes coil on packs for our trucks... The guy who sells them is a board member on F150online... Board members seem to think he is a good guy and his parts are pretty decent. Do the research yourself though.

I bought those coils for my sons F150. Zero problems with them. Got them off of Amazon, and have recommended them to others with one caveat......If you depend on your truck for work, I would use only motorcraft. For my son, if it takes a dump and won't run, he simply limps it home and switches vehicles.

They were $75.00 to my door for 8 coils, boots, springs, dialectic grease. It was purely a $$$$$ monetary decision.
