Looks very clean, body and frame especially... and not prettied up for sale so you can see what you are getting. Driving it will be one way to judge the condition of the engine/powertrain. If it is what you want and you are ready to spend some time and money on basic maintenance (at least), go for it!

i am missing something here. roof rust and it look like its in the bad spots under the drip rails. as for money spent on the motor i see a cheap air filter and every off the shelf msd part a person could put on it. for me if it was a 4x4 ya 2500 as a two wheel drive 2000 grand maybe.
The backstory: this truck is on its third owner, the current owner bought it in washington for a full restoration. He got started and begun redoing and fixing things (the interior is proof of this, I dont have any pics of it but it is in great shape) then he passed away. His wife, now pregnant, no longer wants it and neither does her boyfriend, granted he knows more about than she. She said they want it GONE.

you didn't see the nickel plated or ceramic coated headers, the newer dual feed holley carb, and fresher paint on the engine - maybe it has been rebuilt as well?
Surface rust on the drip rails is nothing to worry about...then again I live in the rust belt.

Judging by how clean things on the engine are, the fact it looks to be just surface rust in a few spots and the vague "history" given. I'd buy it, for $2,000.
I agree that the motor has been redone. It's very rare you can see a clean aluminum fuel pump, bolts in the timing cover look newer, even the EGR valve is clean.
Aside from the engine. The radiator seems to have fairly fresh paint on it, the brake master cylinder has been replaced and supposedly the interior is great.

Well, turns out the truck had been dolled up for me thefrst time I saw her... the bed is dang near gone, reason for the drop in bediner, engine is spewing all kinds of fluids, holes in the cab, so the headliner is most likely shot, along with other cancer spots, paint bubbles, and what have you.

no, I did not buy it. It goes throough 3 inspections. 1: first look, 2: second look w/ a family member who is a mechainc. 3: professional inspection by a local shop.
the first time they dolled it up, second time we caught them off guard as we arrived early, discovered all of those problems and left, no test drive, no money even discussed.
Did not buy it.

That's always a problem buying older vehicles in the Valley, they don't rust, they melt away under all that rain and moss. The F350 Camper Special I just bought sat in an Idaho pasture for 15 years and the cab is still solid, no apparent floor rust, no frame rust. The bed floor has seen better days but doesn't seem too far gone. Look for something on the brown side of the state, you will have a better chance of a solid start.
