92 Ford F150, can you change the door buzzer into a chime?

I get very tired of hearing the buzzing sound when my door is open. Is it possible to take out the buzzer and Install the chime? I still need the features it offers or I'd just disconnect it all together.

Sure but you would have to build your own chime module, it's far easier to just turn it into silence.

chime change

So there's not a chime from a different truck that would plug and play?

A 92 is the OBS body style. It has a buzzer instead of the chime that Ford used in everything from the 90's? If so you should be able to R&R it with one from another OBS. Not sure where the chime module is, my truck already had it removed (or it's broken) cause it never makes a sound.

If you can't plug a newer OBS chime in there, then just get one anyway (with a foot or so of it's harness) and wire it up!

In my truck, the chime module is sort of behind and below the ash tray in the middle, it was the first thing I disconnected

Once you get ahold of it,take it out and just throw it as far as you can.

Look for a Lincoln Town Car around mid 90's. They have the "dong-dong" sounding chime and its a plug and play last I recall... That's what I put in my truck many years ago.

My '94 had a donging style module. I left it unplugged. It's kinda just to the right of the gas pedal under the dash.

That is what my 90 model has. I stuck an awl thru it. It still goes "dong dong", but just a lot quieter.

Thanks for the help. Got a chime module free from my local wrecking yard, plugged it in, and it works great.
