Try running 5w-40 synthetic and see if it make a difference. Is it due to cold weather ? My truck was put on 5w-40 one year when it got cold and truck would romp till warm. Not any more.
As you may have noticed it is kind of personal prefference. As long as it suits your budget and the operating conditions and environment it lives in you will get as many different answers as you do replys.
DMO (Canadian made, bought at my Co-op) a 0w40, diesel CJ4 rated, synthetic. Been using it for 4 years. Change at 5000 miles. When I was using 15w40 Dino it was at 3000 miles. I would use 10w30 in the winter, I would often have to change early if temps dropped so I ended up changing to the synthetic. Also, for a long time before, used DELO chevron 5w40 synthetic. I don't see huge mileage improvements but I do have easy starting, even at very cold temps with no block heater plunged in and never had to add additives for stiction. Use use Ford Cetane booster and antigel somewhat regularly, or Diesel Kleen when I need to.
