2006 f350 superduty box upgrade/swap

Hello fellow FTE! I've got a 2006 Ford F350 short-box. The box is in very bad shape, so I'd like to put the newer 2008 series box on it.

Does anyone know if the mounting points are the same (or at least similar) between 06 and 08 short-box models?
Or has anyone done this before?

Any input is appreciated! Thanks.

Use the search function i know there has been more than a few that have swapped I know they changed the wheel arch and body lines in 2011 but am almost positive all the mounts are the same. Word of warning get your self a few torx plus size 50 it fits the heads on the special bolts also be ready to torch and grind the old heads on the bolts and buy new bolts. Also get a set of captive nuts that hold the bolts to the frame I had to cut and my old omnea off.

I just got done swapping my bed last Friday after having a messed up rear quarter panel for the last 5 years. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the great tips!
Now looking forward to doing the fix. No more driving around with a banged up box!

Did some deep digging on the web, and found something interesting.
2003-2011+ f350 boxes/beds are completely interchangeable. In addition, components such as tail-lights, gate, and bumper are also interchangeable.

Below is a 2006 f350 matched with a 2011 box, retaining the 06 tail-lights, bumper, and tailgate.

Hope this helps everyone!
P.S. I personally think the bodylines match up very well and think it looks great!

Hi,
I dont know if this is a silly question cause there almost basically the same.
But on DRW's would they work if it's under 2003
Got a 99-00' F350 DRW and also would want to replace the box with the new box/beds with the round panels?
Thanks

No offense meant but Eeeewwwww! The new dually rear fenders look like ford forgot the wheels stuck out and grabbed a set of vw beetle fenders and thru them on. I think they are a design flop. But hey i don't like the front end either from 08 up. The basic bed is the same under the dually they just cut out the wheel openings and put the flares on.
