I thought this was going to be a dumb question - Scangauge D? or II?
So I am looking at these Scanguage units. Looking through the specs the D is the only one listed that reads EGT? The only plugs are J1708 and J1939 - same style off-road (farm/const) equipment uses? I must be missing something.
I did read a thread here where there were parameters programmed in to the unit for different read-outs. Am I correct that these are vehicle-independent? IE - the codes for the sensors can be programmed in to any unit for any vehicle? Maybe that also answers my EGT question? Or is that a limitation of the firmware/hardware somehow?

Scan Gauge II allows you to program these called "X-Commands", these are customizable readouts that once programmed can be accessed by scrolling through the display. If you go on their web site look under X-commands and you will find a section that shows what they are and what they monitor, and the programming for each specific vehicles. For instance, they have a section that shows the X-commands for the 6.7L Diesel. I use it, and have programmed all of them, but some work and some don't, not sure why. For instance, i can't make it read boost. But it does show EGT's for all 4 sensors, it shows distance since last regen (but only updates each time you start the truck, not continuously), and shows DPF loading in GPL (Grams per Liter). Mine regens at 2.79, so I always know when i am getting close to a regen.
