Axle 143 = This is the first time I've come across this code. Usually the code for the rear axle is two digits and the third digit describes the front axle and equipment. The way this decodes is (14) Ford 9" non-locking, 3,750 lb capacity (3) 6,000 lb front axle w/o power steering. If your truck has power steering check to see if the "3" is actually a "J", this is the most common digit and signifies a standard front axle with power steering.
A 6000 lb front axle would be super heavy duty in a half ton.

GVW 6050 = 6,050 lb gross vehicle weight
1976 = 1976 model year
