Oil pressure sender leaking

I have a 2006 6.0 and recently I rebuilt the turbo and did the fix for the injector stiction. Now I have blown three oil pressure sending units. I also replaced the low pressure relief valve after the second sensor.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to remove the sender and install a oil gauge and see what type of pressure is.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think that will be the best next step. This way you know if your going
over pressure or not.

What brand of sender are you having problems with and did they come with
the O-ring or did you reuse the old one?

I put the oil gauge where the oil pressure sending unit goes today and I got 34 psi at 700 RPMs.

In the process of doing this I had broke the radiator and had to replace it. I sure had a lovely day. Also Pep Boys sells the tool for the radiator transmissions lines.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing my high oil pressure?

Thanks

Stuck regulator.

BTW That sender is just a simple switch
on at 7 PSI and the needle goes to center.

34 psi @ 700 rpm is not high, a cold engine will show 75+ psi @ idle.

I have some confusion here. Where are you getting your reading?
The dash gauge sensor [one wire sensor behind the filter houseing] At the test port on the filter houseing or the ICP?

Low pressure pump oil is regulated at 45 PSI min. With a bad regulator I have sometimes seen as high as 70 to 75 psi. and should be the same for the switch.

ICP should be no less than 500 PSI to start. PCM likes to see 650.

So guys what are we testing here?

I think he keeps blowing the oil pressure switch for the idiot gauge. So I assume the low pressure system.

I hooked my oil pressure gauge where the oil pressure sending unit screws in and that is where I got my reading from.

I replaced the sensor again today; let's see how long it will last. I also took my SCT tune off.

Just so you know there are 2 oil sensors. 1 behind the oil filter which is just a switch works the dash gauge. There is also a High pressure sensor [ICP] depending on the year is either under the turbo in the pump cover or in late 04 was moved to the passenger side valve cover.

Okay, I got my reading from the one behind the oil filter. Also at 1200 RPMs it was at 60 PSI.

Thanks

That's normal pressure.

What do you mean by "blown" sending unit? Like Sean said, it's just a switch. If it is coming out of the cover, the threads are damaged.

The oil leak is through the sensor where the plug goes into it.

What brand of oil pressure sensors have you been putting in there?

I don't remember ever changeing one of those because of leaking. Shorts; broken yes but leaking oil thru the sensor I have never seen.
I amnot doubting your word but that is a rare occurance I personally have never seen in 10 years of wrenching on a 6.0

I was replacing them with the one that Advance Auto Parts sells; already replaced three of them.

Now I went to a Motorcraft sensor; I hope it doesn't fail!!!!

So my oil pressure is normal?
