Starting Issues

I have been having some intermittent starting issues (V10). It happens when cold or hot. It tries to start and sometimes does with about half the cylinders missing. Shut it off and start again it runs fine. It always starts but sometimes it does not make it first try. It starts fine after the first failed start or half assed start.

Anyone have any ideas?

Next time it happens step on the throttle just a little and see if it starts,it could be the automatic idle control.

Yeah I guess it could be that being a little slow. We are going out of town pulling a trailer for 2 weeks and I am a little worried. I replaced that servo about 3 yrs ago. I will try the throttle trick.

I would like to know what you're fix is. I had to move my RV this weekend and had the same problem out of its V10.

If it's the AIC that is a simple two bolt fix if I recall. I replaced mine a while back.

Mine was a pain to get to. It seems to be working fine now. On a motorhome where you can get to the back of it, it might be much easier to replace.

Here's my dilemma. I have a 1999 motorhome on the F53 chassis. Rockauto has the IAC for all other 6.8 V10's in 99. On there list of parts they don't show the part for the F53. Neither Autozone or NAPA has the F53 on their list of vehicles. Would Ford use a different IAC for the motorhome chassis as opposed to all other trucks?
