K&N will do absolutely NOTHING for performance.......... exhaust will help minimal... You want a tuner to reprogram the computer for starter.

Lets get grounded in reality first.
A sleeper is usually a vehicle that looks stock on the outside but modified with a high horse power motor and supporting equipment for reliability.
Just changing exhaust and intake will make very little difference..

The term high horse power means at least 350 on up.
You will spend thousands to get to those levels by rebuilding the motor with new cams intake, better heads, a super charger, custom programming etc.
Are you sure you can afford a project of this type and paying to have a shop do the build?
Good luck.

Define your power goal, then research what it takes to attain it, then price it out.
There is no way to estimate with any accuracy much until these are settled on.
Some reasons are , as you get into really big power, the trans has to have consideration for a rebuild to take the torque, converter stall and upgrades, and some drive line upgrades, axles etc.
It adds up trying to launch a 6000 lb truck with the bite of soft wide rear tires.
If stuff isn't tough, things break.
Good luck..

Do it to it.
Those kits start about $5500.
And go from there with all the incidental extra costs.
Good luck.

OP sounds like he's wishing more than planning. With that said, turning a full size stock pickup (of any brand) into a real sleeper that has the ability to surprise people will cost more than "a couple grand".

First choice: Boost or motor swap. Either option you will be into for $5k min (8k with porting, valvetrain upgrades ect to actualy get something out of the boost). .

Tuning, dyno, gauges, cooling and misc $1000

Driveline (TQ and rear end) upgrades $1,500 MIN

Suspension/Brakes/Tires: $2k min

$9,500 - $12,500 for a reliable system that produces and delivers to the pavement day in and day out.

The other option is an ebay twin turbo for $1200 and you can surprise two people. The first one you race and yourself when it explodes
