Awesome! The first picture is worthy of the working trucks thread as well.

Was there a tag hanging off one of the pumpkin bolts?

Most of the numbers in your pictures you'll find meaningless, as they are engineering numbers used forever on the carrier and such. The date codes on the pumpkin and pinion housing will help narrow down the year, and it looks like it could be later, early-mid 70's. Count the teeth on the ring and pinion to determine the ratio.
Edit; missed the tooth count in your first post. 3.50 ratio.

I think the wider brake shoes indicate post-'66. Really not an issue to not have the tag. Anything you need, you can easily just match to existing.

1968 was the first year of the bigger brakes in the F-100. Agreed if you need seals or bearings, the numbers will be on them to match.

Thank you gentlemen. This will be a therapeutic job for me, one that I can work a little at a time cleaning it up, getting brakes bearings seals and such as I get a little extra (LOL) cash, without taking the truck out of service. Can anyone tell if this is an open differential or LS, by just looking at the pics. This is all new to me, I thought my old one was posi. until I think it was Ross who very nicely explained that it wasn't.

It's an open diff. L/S looks like this with the bolts shrouded by the casting...

I like seeing that rear end sitting in the back of your truck. Must mean you actually use it instead of hiding it in a shop for most of the year. Looks like a nice truck too.

I know nothing about rear ends. But I think it's really cool that you drove your truck to get it!
