No idea how many times. If you're really interested to see what kind of difference 8 qts made, send a sample in to blackstone the next time you decide to drain the pan and see what they tell you about the condition of the fluid.

I agree...there's plenty of good stuff out there. The higher prices usually mean higher marketing / advertising costs. I used to be a big proponent of Amsoil products, and still do like their stuff, but use it a lot less now than in the past. The only negative thing I will say about them is that it costs A LOT more than dino products and you can't find it just anywhere when you need it RIGHT NOW. When Joey at Terminator Engineering saw my two HPOPs...one from a truck with dino oil only and 200k miles, and the other from a truck with Amsoil only and 100k miles...he said they both looked excellent with little wear. So I said to myself, well...guess I will go with dino on BOTH trucks!

Bottling plants bottle stuff according to a recipe. The generics are never exactly the same as the original. Some are pretty darn close, others are just a custom recipe.
Of course the other side of the coin is, as long as it meets the spec, then it meets the spec and additive packages are just fluff.

I've done some testing on private label stuff that comes from valvoline on the motor oil side and it seemed to do pretty well. But remember just because it comes from the Valvoline factory doesn't mean it has the same additive package as the blue bottle.

Napa/valvoline all fleet 15-40.
it is made by valvoline, and has a napa label put on the bottle instead of the valvoline label.
it comes off the same bottling line. the only difference is the label.
