Help me find shocks
I have an Early 99 F-250 7.3L 4X4. She has 310K miles on her so needless to say the springs were sagging a lot! Last week, I installed a new set of OEM X Code Springs, U-Bolts, & Nuts. I dont know for sure but it looks tho I gained about 4" of lift from them and lemme tell yall... They ride soooo much better. Now I want to replace the shocks. I measured from the center of the top shock eyelet to the center of the bottom shock eyelet on level ground and came up with a measurement of 19.4".
I started searching for some shocks and im having a hard time finding a set of shocks that I think will fit with the current ride height.
The 5100's I found that claim to be for a 2" lifted 99 F250 (Bilstein 33-187297) have a fully compressed measurement of 14.44" and fully extended measurement of 23.23". With the truck being at 19.5 at ride height that leaves roughly 5" of compression travel which is perfect because from the axle to the bump stop is about 4.5" that is about as good as you can get so that the bump stop hits before fully compressing the shock. The issues is the extended measurement. At my ride height I will only have about 3.75" of extension. Is that ok, that just doesn't seam like a whole lot. I dont want to hit a hole and have the truck rebound and over extend the shock. Am I over thinking this and that's the shock to go with?

Fox Shox 980-24-656
Had them (almost) all and these are the way to go. What I have and I bought the same X code springs. Perfect fit. 24.75 inches extended length. 15.65 compressed length. 9.1 inches of travel. 100 percent rebuildable. I like these better than the Bilsteins. They ride firm though as they are from Fox. Made in USA. Great looking shock, looks much better than even Bilsteins in my opinion. Aluminum bodies so no rust. Bigger barrels AND rods than Bilsteins. I got them off of ebay brand new for 104 dollars a piece shipped. They also have matching rear shocks and steering stabilizers.
